I’ve seen a few proposals in here to modify the voting distribution so I thought that I’d start a new thread specific to my ideas on the subject. After everyone’s feedback I will likely submit something official( if I can figure out the process ).
Much thought has been put into fairly rewarding those that contribute to the PIVX ecosystem by rewarding them with minted coins. Since the minted coin distribution is a fair system, we should piggy back the same system for voting by creating voting tokens per proposal in the same manner that we mint PIVX coins.
The current system fairly split the rewards of PIVX minted coins to Masternodes/Stakers/Dev. For every new governance proposal, a new accompanying proposal token can be generated alongside the minted coins in a 1 to 1 ratio. These tokens would show up in your wallet ( perhaps in a new tab ) next to the proposal information. You would be able to vote these specific tokens as they are generated up until the deadline, after which the specific tokens will become useless. The tokens would be on the blockchain and contain a record of how they were voted.
The beauty of this, is that those who CURRENTLY contribute to the stability of the PIVX ecosystem, get the most say, including DEV who does the work.
Whenever the minted coin distribution framework changes by way of governance, so too will the token distributions to match. This concept is simple and should be easy for anyone with a wallet to use. It’s probably easy-ish to implement and most importantly, it’s fair. If it’s not fair, then we need to rethink the PoS reward system.
You may ask, why do we need the tokens instead of simply breaking up the votes proportionately based on coin/masternode ownership. The reason is because it prevents people from jumping into the ecosystem at the last minute to influence initiatives. The tokens are rewarded over the full timespan of the proposal and require that you be consistently in the game as apposed to just setting up a masternode for the vote and then going back to listing all of your PIVX coins on the exchange.
