PIVXsports: Climbing Sponsorship
Overview

Cryptocurrencies are an emerging market growing at an astonishing rate with a total market cap growing by billions, and expected to be in the trillions by 2020. Another market growing at a similar rate is that of indoor rock climbing. For example, there are currently 22 indoor rock climbing gyms in New york city and with more opening up every year. indoor climbing recently ranked ninth among sports in which new participants took part (Outdoor Foundation Report). More than a quarter of participants aged six and older gave sports climbing a try for the first time in the past one-year period. Again, traditional climbing numbers reflected the younger generation. The median age of the newcomers to sport climbing was 26 while traditional climbing newbies were a median age of 31. Put another way, the sweet spot age demographic for new adopter types.
Similar to cryptocurrencies, 2020 is an important year for climbing being that it will be its first year in the olympics which could massively increase the awareness of indoor climbing as the new fad sport. Climbers tend to be very open people and are not afraid to try new things due to the nature of the sport. With that, climbers develop a VERY deep sense of trust and loyalty amongst other climbers, the result of which is a tight knit (and growing) community of individuals who share a love of climbing, and a trust factor with one another (in that you have to help secure the safety of the others climbing with you).
PIVX is one of (if not the only) cryptocurrency where another tight knit community has emerged, and members of it look out for the safety, security, and privacy of each other.
What I plan to do is help be the bridge between the two communities/industries, a purple robinhood for the people’s currency. Before laying out how to accomplish this, a bit about me.
About Me
I have been a climber for six years now. Climbing has showed me many important things in my life, such as not giving up, how to be personable, how to live a rich life very cheaply, and even cryptocurrencies. I got into crypto in March of 2017 through the “keep it purple people” man himself Bryan(Snappy). I’m a professional route setter for the largest rock gym in Philadelphia, and while I have not yet competed on the national circuits, I’ve trained and climbed with (and out climbed) many of the top ranked climbers in the country.
Why climbers
I plan to spread the word about PIVX to all the people possible through the community of climbers. Now why climbers? Climbers are not afraid to try new things that can be scary and maybe even risky. Along with the people in the community being excellent for early adoption the rules of the sport are analogous to blockchain technology. For instance climbing doesn’t pretend to be anything that it is not…. it will always be a rock that has some level of difficulty to climb and a person is either able to climb it or they are not. While the blockchain has a similar beauty to it, the beauty is that the coins are yours or they are not. The immutable has simple rules that can not be defeated just like the rules of climbing. Which is why I believe that climbers will be an incredible community that will adopt PIVX and ultimately grow the community for the better.
Plans:
I have already enlisted one (possibly two) photographers and videographers (also climbers) who will document my road trip across the U.S. where I will begin to train for the national circuit as I visit as many indoor climbing gyms (and famous outdoor climbing locations), talking to gyms, climbers, etc… and hand out PIV and PIVX swag to climbers at every gym possible.
I also plan to enter the national competition circuit which amass hundreds of spectators at the competitions along with thousands online. Through this I hope to help grow the PIVX community and awareness of this community as a lifestyle brand.
Deliverables:
Instagram: @j_avallone (2,645 followers)
3-5 picture posts a week covering the trip, interactions, etc (using #PIVX #PIVXsports hashtags)
1-3 Video/Instalive posts a week
SnapChat: Joe Avalon (22k followers)
3-5 Snapchats a week covering PIVX, various climbing activities, etc.
Youtube: Crypto Joe
1 Video a week recapping experiences, PIVX, etc.
CLIMBING SERIES
Lots of climbers are looking for material that covers basics, fundamentals, etc.
The thought is to create an entire series (PIVX powered/wrapped) where I go through all aspects of climbing, from technique, instructions, guides, demos, etc.
10-20 videos to start
Ongoing as more footage and request come in.
- Steemit: @javallone (93 followers)
- Repost all content from youtube
- descriptive articles on the randomness that life on the road will yield

Endoresements:
I have connections to a lot of industry (climbing) gear/merch. Thought would be to partner with them/introduce them to PIVX and create an entire line of PIVX products for climbers.
Purple chalk (most chalk climbing is white - we are in the midst of figuring out how to develop/sell PURPLE chalk that we can give out to climbers…making the world PURPLE).
