This is an all-in-one proposal for the PIVX Labs Reward Pool (located here: https://pivx.promo/funding.html), with the aim of giving it a large buffer for the upcoming PIVX Labs Holiday events, of which will be detailed below, and provide a boost to the Labs Quality Control team.
An initial note: it has now been over 100 days since the last 'Labs Booster' proposal, a testament to the growth of our self-sustaining 'micro-economy' fostered by PIVCards and Labs Ads, both of which have fee systems supporting relief on the DAO budget. The more PIV flows through the Labs Ecosystem, the less DAO funding we need.
Labs December Event
A massive December-long Labs Event is planned for the holiday season! Running until the very first day of 2025, UTC-0, PIVX Labs is going to be running some awesome promotions for our various platforms, here's an outline of them, and what we're hoping to achieve with them.
PIVX Rewards
- A month long "Double-Rewards" Perk, with two effects:
- - The 'base' faucet reward will be doubled.
- - The 'base' referral commission split will be doubled.
- - The PIVX Labs Discord Trivia will be doubled from 2.5 PIV to 5 PIV, with community games played more frequently during the month, up to 5x a day.
In essence, we're hoping to bring in new users via a caffeinated referral programme (which we're also going to study for onboarding reasons), while boosting retention with a heightened base reward, and bringing some life to Discord with fun, engaging community games - the increases are not a long-term strategy nor is it viable for the long-term, and it is purely running for the month of December, but there's still plenty of useful data for us to accumulate from such an event, and potential users and PIVians to gain, so why not start the holidays with a bang?
PIVCards
- A month long of Double Cashback (from 1%, to 2%, as well as a slightly heightened chance of earning Cashback).
This campaign will be simple: attract new users to PIVCards, and reward existing users for their loyalty - Cashback is our highly-gamified reward system intended to spice up the fun of using PIVCards in a practical way, and, in a literal sense, it will be released with a 'bang', just in time for the holiday season.
Quality Control
Aside from the temporary holiday season event - a permanent change to Quality Control is going to be enacted past this proposal to help encourage additional Quality Control members to join, and to continue their work in bulletproofing Labs software. In recent months, Quality Control has seen a large decrease in users, with most tests only being performed by one or two members. This is potentially influenced a little by the drop in PIVX prices since our last Quality Control reward scheme changes, which were in 2023, a vastly different market to now.
To that tune, Quality Control rewards will be doubled for My PIVX Wallet, and we'll provide larger discounts/rebates for testing paid platforms like PIVCards and PIVX Rewards.
I'm hoping this change can help us expand the Quality Control team, and get us back to our strong 2023 age, in which almost every dev PR had immediate access to testers - we are currently only reserving large PRs for testing, because the QC team activity has fell so low.
Transparency
This proposal, unlike most Labs Proposals, is going directly to the PIVX Rewards Pool, which is publicly and transparently displayed on the platform: https://pivx.promo/funding.html
While per-tx transparency is not yet displayed, this is a planned feature; all PIVX Rewards transactions are already being logged, it's merely a task of displaying them in a nice format - this task is reserved for the Labs Home website, planned to launch early 2025, which is designed explicitly with transparency in mind, and will offer the ability to explore the transaction history of the PIVX Labs Reward Pool, making it a completely community-owned, distributed, and monitored pool.
