Active Adding PIVX to BoxWallet

Boxwallet

New Pivian
Hi all,

I am the creator of BoxWallet, and would like to create some crowdfunding in order to add PIVX.

What is BoxWallet?

BoxWallet 2 is a browser based, multi-coin wallet, that can get your coin-of-choice up and running fast and securely staking with just a few clicks.

I believe adding PIVX to BoxWallet, will give PIVX more exposure, as everyone who ever uses BoxWallet, will be exposed to PIVX.

I've added a screenshot of the BoxWallet coin home screen, and further screens can be seen on the GitHub page.

I'd like to raise a one-off amount of 10000 PIVX.

Thank you for your time

Hello,

I would be helpful if you can attach a video of how a wallet is installed. Can be an different coin just to demo.

BoxWallet just helps a user install PIVX? Or does it provide a 'Dashboard' when running the wallet? (Seems to given the other examples in the GitHub Readme.)

Thanks.

Hi Eric,

BoxWallet will help a user install via a single button, and also upgrade their PIVX core files when there's a new version release.

It also provides a dashboard similar to the existing ones you can find in the repo, including a transactions list where you'll be able to send and receive PIV.

More features will also be included into the PIVX part of BoxWallet as there added in the future.

Thanks

Ok. I will have to do some research, but I don't really have time. Plus, I'm not really a fan of installing software on my desktop unless neccesary for security reasons. That's why I thought a video would be helpful. Other MNOs likely feel the same.

As it stands, I'm trying to answer 2 questions.

1) What benefits does it offer the Community, since PIVX Core is easy to install, can be done even easier with SnapCraft.io, and for those that want even easier yet, there is MyPIVXwallet.org.

2) What are the security issues with using a 3rd party application to sit in the middle of transactions?

Looking forward to feedback.

Thanks.

I've added a video to the GitHub page and will be rolling out more shortly to walk you through the specifics. To address your core concerns:

1. Community Benefits & Accessibility
While SnapCraft is excellent, it has limitations. SnapCraft is largely restricted to specific Linux distributions. BoxWallet is built to be 'platform agnostic'—it runs on any Linux version, Mac, Windows, and even low-power hardware like a Raspberry Pi.

From a community growth perspective, BoxWallet acts as a brand ambassador. Every user who opens the app sees the PIVX branding immediately on the start screen, increasing visibility and adoption for the project beyond just the 'power users' who are comfortable with command-line tools.

2. Security & The 'Middleman' Myth
It is a common (and valid) fear that 3rd party apps act as a 'middleman' that could intercept funds. However, BoxWallet is architecturally different:
  • No Interception: BoxWallet isn't 'in the middle' of your transactions. It uses PIVX's actual official Core files to perform all actions via an RPC (Remote Procedure Call) interface. Think of BoxWallet as a 'remote control' for the official PIVX engine.
  • Local Control: You don't have to trust a remote server. You can run BoxWallet on a dedicated device (like a Raspberry Pi) inside your own home network, or your desktop/laptop. You then access the interface via a browser from your desktop or phone.
  • Security Isolation: This setup could actually improve security for those who don't like installing software on their main desktop. The 'heavy lifting' and private keys stay on the isolated Pi/Server, while your desktop only sees the visual interface.
In short, BoxWallet gives you the choice: use it as a standard desktop app, or use it as a private, self-hosted server on your local network.

Thank you
