Proposal Abstract
PIVX.poker is as far as I know the only private, open source poker room in the world.

Please come in and play! https://pivx.poker

Started in 2021, it has had its ups and downs since but is stronger than ever now with its intergration into PIVX Labs. This proposal designed to be a supplement to the Labs funding, with focus on freelancer bounties and freeroll prize pools.

PIVX.poker
After many months of development, PIVX has finally set up the structure for other developers besides @LukeL to contribute to the codebase. Because anyone can make a contribution, setting up a bounty system for tasks to get new developers involved is required. This encourages participation with quick payouts and a pathway to build trust for future proposals.

First, together with our Lead developer LukeL, we will reward new contributions based on degree of difficulty. Currently the process for a new face to come in a be paid for their work is uphill at best. This makes it easier and takes some pressure from our overlord JSKitty ;)

Second (and more exciting in my opinion), all leftover funds will be staked or masternoded, and those rewards will be directly used as the prize pool for our daily/hourly freerolls. There will also be marketing giveaways and freebuy tournament. A prize pool can literally be 1 PIV.

WHY 6 MONTHS!?
I am aware the norm for proposals is a 3 month cycle period. This was created as a sort of flexible proposal, to be voted down and up on a monthly basis depending on the needs of the budget. Also the relatively low amount per month to leave room for emergency proposals like the ones this superblock.

I will not be paid in any way from this proposal! Its in my best interest to use these funds as a war chest to compensate anyone willing to contribute to the Github repo or run the pivx.poker discord channel. I guess Im in it for the long haul, 3 years going and I want to see this through.

In addition, if passed and funded, I will give updates here/discord on funds monthly, which is necessary anyway to create the bounty structure and proper payouts.

Keep in mind masternode voters, we showcase:
  1. Ease of PIVX use with MPW integration
  2. Privacy tech (soon to be on SHIELD only standard)
  3. Open source collaboration

Thanks and see you at the tables!

I know nothing about poker, but I like this proposal. Still, I have questions ....

1. What efforts have been done, to bring in people from Poker Communities OUTSIDE of the PIVX Community?
2. What stats do we have for growing the user base from outside PIVX and/or gaining exposure for PIVX?
3. What are the main barriers preventing PIVX.poker from being super popular?

1. We have a marketing blitz in the works

2. None so far, there has not been any marketing. See 1

3. It needs to have more exposure and trusted runtime, no one knows about it.

This is a good proposal; I'm happy to see that the work I've done has made it possible for other developers to be interested and start working on the project. I am curious about something though:

We didn't chat personally about who was going to pay and how the payment was to be decided. I have chatted with the developer(s) who is(are) interested in starting up work at the moment and have been told multiple times to not discuss payment. My understanding from the way you are writing this proposal is that I would help in the decision of how much to pay based on the complexity of each task, and you would hold on to the funds. I would just like some clarifications on what your thoughts are on this.

Yes I would love to keep it in shield but then how could we verify? It would be cool if everyone could follow along with how much treasury would be left.

We probably shouldn't discuss specifics and bounties in here but yea I would like to be the bounty and prize pool custodian with your help in the GitHub side

Oke, so first month looks like a downvote, hopefully we will get those votes back next superblock. This was the reason why I made it a 6 month proposal, to be flexible for the budget.

I think what's happened with some proposals this month is because more funds were wanted than available someone has rejigged their votes around to pass certain ones they deem more important at the time. This will happen every cycle when more funds are wanted than available.

Yea, there is a case to be made that an overplanned budget is a good thing, But of course thats in a fair, evenly distributed and decentralized voting system.

I guess im at a point where I stopped complaining about the friends rejigging, and accept the reality of the current governance. To be fair the last superblock not being paid out didnt help things out, I see more than half is being repaid. How was that "bug" kept secret though? for how long?

Y'all inflated the budget to half a million and its still isn't enough?!

Anyway the proposal is there for 5 more cycles, it will do some good, because what we are creating doesn't exist.

Yes I would like announce an important update:

So usually in poker games theres a rake collected after every hand that goes to the house. Since this could be a reason for unwanted attention from authorities, we have decided to remove the house rake option and make it REFERRAL ONLY. So now every player that a person refers gets 2% of the pot won. This will incentivize building the community, and there are plans to have a way to track the referrals. This could be a real opportunity to make passive income, and cleans the hands of PIVX.poker and PIVX of profiting from the system. A no rake system with real in game currency is not a thing now online, only play games with play chips.

We are a part of Labz now, so the hosting is provided currently. But I see this game being at least break even if you take into account other referral rewards from exchanges etc.

We are still currently NOT FUNDED, I ask the masternode voter(s) to review this, and the current state of the budget. We already owe some bounties, but the developers understand they are paid pending a proposal pass

This is still very much a community thing, so any suggestions are always welcome!

UPDATE

Thanks to the proposal passing, we have fully paid developers for the work they have done and have funded the freerolls!

The freerolls are tournaments with a free prize pool given to the winner or winners of the tournament. Every 8 hours one will start, starting with the prize pool of 10 million Snaps (.1 PIV). The games will only start if there are at least 4 or 5 players waiting.

BTW the remaining funds have been staked, and i must say great job to JSKitty and the team for making a wallet that you can start in seconds and create a proposal and then stake after receiving payout. Amazing and ready for the masses

I would also like remind everyone that with the new referral only system, you can make a passive income of PIV without playing any poker or even knowing how to play. Inquire how to create a referral link so you can get 2% of every player that you refers winnings.

When did we come up with the name 'Snaps' to define the smallest unit of PIV?
Is it to honor Snappy Snap?

I like it.

Yea I should name it Rwen because it seems I was the only person to care what it's called. I thought Snaps was nice but now I'm thinking "10 million Rwen freeroll" has a nice ring to it.

Very funny!

Is there an update on this project?
Have marketing efforts started?
Has this project helped pull people into our Community?

There isn't enough Treasury to fund all proposals this cycle, so the more info the better.

Thanks!

Also, it seems that the proposal 'LRP-Luke' already covers PIVX Poker development?

What is the current size of the 'War Chest' in this proposal?

Hello, I'll let you know what I know and that should cover most of your questions.

- Is there an update on this project?
The Pivx Poker project has been progressing. Some of the most recent development work was on proof of work captchas and bot detection. One of the developers did post some progress, and we paid them at the end of May as was posted above. Due to some confusion and discussions with the rest of the new developers who would like to take up some tasks, we will revamp the bounty system to be more transparent. We will do this by listing certain tasks and goals with pivx reward bounties on github issues, much like how pivx labs started.

- Have marketing efforts started?
No, and this is one of the things that has been delaying our use of the funds. I was given 500 pivx from this pool of funds for free rolls. That amount has sat in a transparent address (DJi2WiPHhuufCJHrmUfpYTeqJRgZXcUAeu) waiting for when the marketing can start. We are currently working on getting graphics created for PIVX.Poker for marketing and advertising. Once those are available the plan is to organize an "opening day", after that I will begin running the free rolls as described above.

- Has this project helped pull people into our Community?
Even without marketing, we do see people create small group tables and play hands with friends. It seems to be a fun activity for individuals in our community. Once we start marketing, I am sure that this will be another good way for the community to introduce people to pivx, as well as interest people similarly to a faucet, like pivx.promo has done.

- Also, it seems that the proposal 'LRP-Luke' already covers PIVX Poker development?
Yes, to a certain extent I am a part of the PIVX Poker development, but I also have a large amount of other tasks. This proposal is to offer bounties to other developers willing to do tasks and speed up the process.

- What is the current size of the 'War Chest' in this proposal?
I have 500 pivx in my wallet from this proposal dedicated to free rolls. The address that received these funds directly from the proposal (DTCbXC1pvfYLPZLTfYoJwbXQowPMYodt2u), is controlled by Rwenzori and has received 10k pivx in total. My understanding is that 8k is currently staking. I do not know the exact numbers, and Rwenzori will need to answer that specifically.

An addition (JSKitty): regarding the LRP of Luke's personal Labs work "roadmap", PIVX Poker is at the 2nd-to-last priority, so although it's a part of his proposal, it relies on higher priority work being complete prior, there is a (slim) chance he might not be able to dedicate any time at all towards it. In my opinion, that's why PIVX Poker has it's own funding (secured by Rwenzori, not related to Labs nor governed by us), thus they can source external devs at their own discretion if timely development is needed.
